Iiawah's Secret
My Current Fantasy/ Dystopian Work in Progress
In the heart of Elvarden lies the Iiawahn Sea, and in the middle of the sea are seven islands making up the charming kingdom of Iiawah. Eyed by the surrounding kingdoms of the Mainland, Iiawah is seen as a place of wealth, power, and freedom. But all is not as desirable as it looks from the outside. The kingdom is locked up, strict rules are set in stone, and the once magical people have lost what once made them stunning.
Thirteen-year-old Estella Kehaloa is the eldest of the seven princesses and daughter to the ruling king and queen. She and her family dwell on the royal private island, Meaali. Estella wants nothing more than to see the rest of her kingdom and the rest of the world, but she has to believe what she’s been taught: Iiawah is safe, the rest of the world is not.
When Estella finds a series of clues hinting at secrets kept from the people, she sets out to find the truth about herself and her kingdom. But when it interferes with her parents’ plans she is forced to choose a side– lies or truth, magic or no magic, safety or freedom?

Everything falls apart when the sleek, black dragon, Kazan returns the same night and sets her family’s farm ablaze. The king confiscates the dragon, and Luria and her sister embark on a mission to get him back, only to be swept away in the tide of resistance, magic, war, and power.
The world’s magic is harbored by the dragons. No one receives magic without a dragon bond. But the king has outlawed dragons, attempting to control all power in the realm. Luria only wants to live in peace with her dragon. That was until the king took him from her. Now Luria is caught up in the tide of a rebellion that just might use her unique dragon bonding abilities as the face of their revolution and force her to face her greatest fears.
